About
Tim Richartz is a multidisciplinary designer/maker with a broad scope of professional experience. As a founding partner of Brooklyn-based TZ Design, Tim’s designs have garnered awards for seating, tables and case-goods for the contract furniture industry. He also taught the senior level Furniture Design Studio for 25 years at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, where he graduated with honors in Industrial Design.
Tim pivoted from contract furniture to explore other design opportunities including custom furniture and architectural interiors, as well as material innovation and product development for the automotive industry, amongst others.
He founded his eponymous brand timrichartz in 2004. Collaborating with California based blankblank.com, they introduced “Tubes” lighting and explored various bespoke lighting and table design concepts for production.
Tim continues to consult with Mark Goetz/TZ Design, dedicating his expertise to proprietary design programs centered on human wellness through ergonomic and active seating programs. With TZ, Tim is also instrumental in 3D development for a variety of projects and clients. He continues to develop new independent projects out of his studio in Stony Creek, CT.
